Zack W. Almquist
Mathematics - Class of 2005

Since graduating from the Honors College, I completed a Master's in statistics at Northwestern University, and a Master's in demography from the University of California, Irvine. Currently, I am enrolled in a Ph.D. program in sociology at UC-Irvine where my focus of study is social network analysis (my personal website is www.socsci.uci.edu/~almquist). During the summer of 2007, I interned at the National Opinion Research Center at the University of Chicago. The following summer, I participated in the Young Scientists Summer Program at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis in Laxenburg, Austria. Recently, I presented my research at the International Network for Social Network Analysis meeting, and at the American Sociological Association's annual convention. My favorite memories of the Honors College all revolve around my experiences with Professor Frances Cogan. I enjoyed her mentorship as my HC adviser, and every class I took with her, especially her Gothic Literature course.
